If you’ve ever sat in a dark theatre and thought, “please let it be good,” The Drowsy Chaperone is the show for you! It all begins when a die-hard musical-theater fan known as The Man in Chair (portrayed by Tuna, Texas’s Larry Hembree) plays his favorite 1928 musical comedy on his turntable. As he listens, the music comes to life in his living room, blurring the lines between reality and the characters that radiate from the record. The show that emerges from the vinyl introduces a brazen Broadway starlet, Janet Van De Graaff (played by Town newcomer Elissa Horrell), who desires to leave her showgirl ways. Her reason to depart? Love, of course! She intends to wed oil tycoon, Robert Martin, played by Tracy Steele (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat). Certainly it is not that simple? Of course, not! Janet’s producer Feldzieg, played by Scott Stepp (Annie Get Your Gun, Oklahoma!), is threatened with bodily harm by two gangsters disguised as pastry chefs (newcomer Josh Kern & Cats’' Travis Roof) to stop the wedding of Janet and Robert. To save himself, Feldzieg recruits Latin lover Aldolpho (West Side Story’s Jessie Pagan) to seduce Janet and ruin her relationship with Robert.

As the show in The Man’s living room continues, he feels compelled to insert his own personal comments and show off his knowledge of musical theatre. The cast also includes Frank Thompson of White Christmas fame, Harvey’s Chad Forrester and Always...Patsy Cline’s Kathy Hartzog as Janet’s drowsy (a.k.a. she's had one too many!) chaperone, herself! Whether you are watching “the show” or “the show-within-a-show,” you are certain to be entertained.
