Once again misunderstandings and madcap misadventures abound on Town’s stage as we present Moon Over Buffalo. This hilarious comedy recounts the ordeals of a 1950s touring acting troupe led by the husband and wife team of George and Charlotte Hay, best described as the second-rate Lunts of the American stage. And, once again, our production features Allan Fulmer, Jr., and Kathy Hartzog who reprise their roles from Town’s 1998 production.
Joining this comedic duo in the green room of Buffalo’s Erlanger Theatre are Charlotte’s mother (Gayle Stewart – Dearly Departed) who has selective hearing; her granddaughter, Rosalind (Evelyn Clary – Steel Magnolias) who has some big news for the family; Rosalind’s fiancé, Howard (Stephen Davis – The Producers) a mild-mannered weatherman; the ingénue, Eileen (Town newcomer Sirena Dib) who has some disturbing news for George; Paul (Chad Forrester in his Town debut) the company’s manager, who is in love with Rosalind; and Richard Maynard (Bill DeWitt - A Tuna Christmas) the Hays’ lawyer, who’s flown in to lunch and flirt with Charlotte.
Excitement explodes as George and Charlotte believe they have the opportunity to perform for Frank Capra with the hopes of landing a role in one of his epic films. But, wait! The recipe for this comedy is not that simple as everything spins out of control into hysterical whimsy with a surprise ending. No, we’ll not tell the outcome – simply see “Moon” shine over Columbia!
