Time Magazine called The Odd Couple “an evening of group hysteria” and indeed it is! What begins as an “ordinary” Friday night poker game dissolves into an incredibly hilarious saga centered on Oscar Madison and Felix Unger. Oscar, a sportswriter, barely minds that his wife has divorced him because it allows him to host these Friday night poker games AND he never has to clean his apartment. Felix, a newscaster and fuss-budgety cleaning fanatic, becomes the friend-in-need as he is newly separated from his wife. So, good old Oscar takes in poor old Felix and this mismatched duo become the “odd couple.”
Town’s production pits Scott Stepp (the voice of the plant in Little Shop of Horrors) against Lee O. Smith (the clock in Beauty and the Beast) as Oscar and Felix, respectively. The poker-playing buddies are Chad Forrister (Moon Over Buffalo) as Speed, Keith McAdams (The King and I) as Murray the Cop, Steve Reeves (No Time for Sergeants) as Roy and Michael Traynham (Town newcomer) as Vinnie. Melinda Collins (Not Now, Darling) and Laurel Ulman (in her Town debut) are the delightful English “birds,” the Pigeon sisters.
So, don’t be the “odd man out.” Come see the disastrous results as Felix-the-neat moves in with Oscar-the-slob in one of Broadway’s best-known comedies from the pen of one of America’s greatest writers, Neil Simon. Odds are, you’ll love the show!
